Jasper Blom is known as one of most renowned tenor players of the Dutch jazz scene and one of the most versatile saxophone players of the BeNeLux. His quartet features four internationally acclaimed Dutch jazz musicians, with whom Jasper Blom has been playing for more then 20 years. Blom's intelligent compositions and music cover a wide range of stylistic influences from pop music via jazz to free improvised soundscapes. In his work stories develop, while musical languages are challenged by the individuality and interplay of the band members. A true showcase of what melody, rhythm and harmony have to offer in composition and improvisation, without becoming predictable.
The band ́s guitarist Jesse van Ruller has established an international reputation since winning the Thelonious Monk Award and can be considered as one of the top jazz guitarists of the world.
Frans van der Hoeven (bass) is probably the most sought after doublebass player in the Netherlands and has performed with every major jazz soloist passing through the Benelux (a.o. Clark Terry, Johnny Griffin, Art Farmer, Tom Harrell and Kurt Rosenwinkel).
Drummer Martijn Vink has rapidly established himself as one of Europe ́s most wanted session drummers through his work with the Metropole Orchestra, the WDR Big Band, New Cool Collective, the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, as well as artists like Lee Konitz, Joe Lovano and Boyan Z.
ALLABOUTJAZZ on their previous album ' Dexterity"
There's a lot to love about Dexterity, a thoroughly modern recording that refuses to be insulated and, instead, spreads out with lyrical fire when required, but proves equally capable of gentler climes,.... An exhilarating discovery, and one that demands far greater attention in future.(John Kelman)
