Brazil melts hearts. Aqua Regia is a mixture that melts gold. Brazil is the Aqua Regia to my (Jon Gold's) heart. This album, recorded while I prepared to undertake a new life based in Rio de Janeiro reflects the excitement of entering into a new phase both personally and musically. It underscores not just a musical journey but a real journey to a new a wondrous, and for me, even mythical place.

Special guest Airto on drums and percussion on Samba das Meninas and Ypioca. I trembled to hear the first playback of Airto playing my samba "Samba das Meninas" - it was a dream come true!

Harvie S on bass. What a master! He was in top form as at the time of these recording he was touring intensely with vocalist Sheila Jordan. Harvie knows his way around a recording studio and took on the welcome role of unnamed producer at times!
