Singing His Way Back Home
Jimmy Hall was born in Fort Moultre, South Carolina, November 27, 1941. At an early age, the family moved to Chesterfield County, South Carolina and built a farm. As the second oldest of 4 siblings, and with a more family oriented nature, most of the responsibility of helping the family maintain the two horse farm, fell on him. He actually quit school in the sixth grade to help his parents save the family farm. All of the life experience songs are based upon what he actually lived. The family home is still standing, though the farm ended long ago.
You can't help but feel blessed as you find a treasure in each of his songs. His voice is raspy, and full of authority, and conviction. His songs are inspiring as well as educational, and taking no credit, he says "To God all the Glory."
True storyteller, much like that of Red Sovine.
