Songs for Jamil

Of all the things to get you wet... how about a bisexual, half-Chinese, ex-Catholic school girl in nerd glasses who- no joke, used to be a librarian- but now gives you intelligent AND uninhibited electronica. Performer Magazine says, "Joanna Newsom, Bjork and Peaches have a threesome in your wildest of wet dreams...It's official: Portland's Ilima Considine is certifiably crazy. But, it's the kind of genius-crazy that makes one wonder just how in the world she does it." Don't Stop, a first album from an unknown band without a label, management, or touring, managed to chart #32 for electronic music on CMJ- a surprise in an often style-pure genre. While some dismissed it as sex music, the 13 tracks covering “seven types of loneliness” struck a chord with many. The album incorporated spoken word, odd song structures, weird samples, and a classically trained violinist turned indie-rock vocalist. In an odd twist, this dance pop-songstress was adopted by the local hiphop scene and began performing at hiphop festivals and doing hooks for rappers across the country. More hiphop producers were intrigued, and the resulting Love Hotel is an experimental electronic album featuring exclusively hiphop producers- DJ Ceez of VinylPimpz, PDX rapper/producer Andy $tack, and Eugene bros Aerosol and DGB; with guest rappers Sergio and Powahouse of Some of the Truest. The Sexbots are fresh off playing the going away party for Portland's Mayor Sam Adams and will be attending 2013 National NACA conference in Nashville under grants from both the Oregon Arts Commission and the Regional Arts and Culture Council.
