Galileo's Telescope

Galileo's Telescope

I have always loved to look at the stars. I sometimes pretended I was Galileo, but I didn’t know anything about him. Reading David Wootton’s inspiring book “Galileo: Watcher of the Skies” showed me Galileo and his methods, theories, colleagues and times; which for me turned into music! I began to read more about Aristotle, Copernicus and Newton and began to understand the lineage of minds that are continuing to take us on our journey to understanding the Cosmos.

The titles of the music and short descriptions are:

1 Galileo's Telescope

From the murky depths of inspiration an idea is born
Endless experimentation leads to a theory – maybe an answer
The dark forces of the Inquisition and fear of anything new
The stars hold the answer!

2 Aristotle's Eternal Mechanical Universe

The heavens are composed of 55 concentric, crystalline spheres to which the celestial bodies are attached with the Earth at the center.

3 Copernicus' Rotating Circling Universe

The Sun is the center of the Solar System. The Eart
