Miami’s Christian Hip-Hop Secret: Authentik
In the over-saturated genre of Hip-Hop there aren’t many that can fuse theology with commercial backdrops and do it successfully. CTF Records believes they have a fusion of emcees called Authentik that can accomplish that and edify countless souls through quality recordings. Authentik (Serge, Big Mike, Prospekt, M.IC, E-Van, and Sciple) are a Christian Rap secret from the vibrant city of Miami that has managed to execute the art of communicating a biblical worldview through music. The up and coming group has represented Christ in excellence off the stage and on it. They have done ministry with para-church ministries like Cross International, One Hope, and Youth For Christ. In association with One Hope they released a project that musically expressed the books of the Bible verbatim in a rap format. They have a passion for being faithful to the scriptures and applying the teachings of Christ to their lives. Authentik are authentically servants of the Most High and strive to always put Christ ahead of their God given talents.
As a collective they have accomplished a lot and are currently riding a wave of momentum that can possibly open the door for bigger platforms. So far they have opened for top tier talents like Group One Crew, Thi’sl, Humble Beast, Derek Minor, and Lamp Mode Recordings. They have gotten radio play via Z180 Radio, (FNFLIVE)WGNK 88.3 FM, and (Radiate FM)WRGP 95.3 FM, released well-received singles and have gotten cosigns from the likes of Sho Baraka, J’Son, Benjah and shai Linne. The lower case emcee (Shai Linne) recently said this via twitter “Yo this group Authentik is killin in Miami. Rowdy southern hip-hop with solid doctrine. I love it! #BeastModeTour.” 2012 has been the biggest year for the blooming collective thus far.
Authentik plans to capitalize on their recent buzz with their debut retail album entitled ‘Groans before Glory’ which comes out on 12-12-12. An album that is based on Romans 8:23 “Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies” They want to convey the reality that being a believer comes with many trials and tribulations before glory and they want to help their fellow Christian process that hard to swallow truth. The album will feature seasoned veterans like Sho Baraka, J’Son, and Benjah. Also it will feature production by heavyweight producer Isaac Opus, a producer known for his work with Hip-Hop stars Rick Ross, Diddy, and DJ Khaled. Up and coming producer Mashell Leroy will have the majority of the production credits on “GB4G”, Gus Cruz the C.E.O of CTF Records has this to say about Leroy “He is a quiet person but his production is powerful, creative and captivating.”
Not only will Authentik release their debut retail album this December they will also be going on the “GB4G” tour with Lamp Mode Recordings, they will invade the cities of Miami, Tampa, Orlando, and Port Saint Lucie Florida.
