Abandoning any semblance of commercial image, Wires and Lights of Kalamazoo, Mich. produces an upbeat, catchy and genuine catalog of music with its latest independent EP release. The first studio recording to the group's name, Wires and Lights has spent the past year winning over hearts at home in the Mitten and throughout the Midwest.

With songs penned by front woman and singer/songwriter Kathryn Tapper, the self-titled EP boasts upbeat songs that briefly saunter into rock territory with numbers like "It's Not Too Late" and "No Running Away". With keyboards spitting out a myriad of sounds, listeners will, at times, glean an 80s-style synth pop feel, especially in tracks like "Talk To Me". The band ratchets it down for one of the album's most stunningly beautiful tracks, a ballad entitled "Moonlight".

Overall, the band achieves an album worthy to be cranked in the stereo of a car or to softly waft from the ear phones of an iPod at night.
