ARRANCO DE VARSÓVIA Brazilian vocal samba quartet Throughout its fourteen years of existence, the vocal quartet Arranco de Varsóvia, aka Arranco, has remained faithful to the link that unites all trends in Brazilian Music: Samba. The samba vocal groups were quite traditional in Brazilian music in the past. Through its innovative vocal arrangements and the original posture of its members Arranco has promoted a healthy renewal not only amidst Brazilian vocal groups but, also, in the world of samba. They have swing, liveliness and skill. They carry the spell of joyful singing wherever they arrive. They are harmony and rhythm, melody and groove. Arranco de Varsóvia has amplified the boundaries of samba and blended its language into a very interesting mixture of vocal harmony and fascinating rhythm. The group has released 5 albums, such as Quem é de sambar, Na cadência do samba, Pãozinho de Açucar and Na Panela pra Dançar. An irresistible repertoire that will attract both cultivated listeners and wild dancers. Arranco has also performed the music of Dorival Caymmi, Vinicius de Moraes, Noel Rosa and Cartola, in several shows around Brazil. Arranco has won the Prêmio Tim, the most important music award in Brazil, as the Best Samba Group of 2006. The group has released, through Mills Records and Canal Brasil, a live DVD, Pãozinho de Açúcar – Arranco de Varsóvia canta Martinho da Vila, performing only sambas by the great Martinho da Vila, a worldwide known composer and singer, that showed samba to the world. Martinho also took part in the DVD, as well as Nelson Sargento, veteran composer from the famous Mangueira samba school.
